Gratitude Journaling

I have written about journaling in the past as I described my morning routine, and I wanted to provide some additional thoughts I've had since refining my process to now journal both in the morning and evening.

I am very much a work in process. I have used a journal for years as I have read my scriptures in the morning, jotting down thoughts, questions, concerns or current struggles.

It wasn't until I discovered the 5-Minute Journal several years ago that I started to incorporate gratitude into my journaling. Written gratitude is what I now appreciate most about journaling.

Over the years, I have tried a few different methodologies for gratitude journaling. Each one of them has reinforced the power of expressing gratitude and doing so in writing. Here are some of the journals I have used over the years. They are all good in their own ways, and I'm sure there are many more options available, so figure out what works best for you.

  • 5-Minute Journal: Thoughtful prompts to express gratitude, prioritize your day and self-reflect.

  • 6-Minute Diary: All-in-one gratitude journal, daily planner and mindfulness journal.

  • Miracle Morning: Journal to gain clarity, capture ideas, review lessons and acknowledge your progress.

  • 10 Ideas Per Day: Idea journal for addressing challenges and determining next steps.

  • Empowered Wealth: Guide for daily and evening routines.

I have also journaled using my reMarkable. For the last two years, I went through my own process of gratitude journaling and writing the most important thing of the day. Currently, I am working in 90-day blocks and refining my version of a morning journal, utilizing elements of several journals I've used.
